Definition

The Multicultural Filmmakers Collective, commonly referred to as MultiCulti, is an RTVF student group that seeks to nurture, promote, and ally multicultural student filmmakers at Northwestern University, as well as support student films that present multicultural concerns and experiences. This includes any perspectives that are not often represented, including, but not limited to people of color, women, LGBT, and religious minorities.

Who kNUw?

MultiCulti was founded in 2012 and in 2013 they began giving an annual $500 grant towards a film that reflects the MultiCulti mission statement. MultiCulti has gone on to increase their annual grant to $1500, which is awarded to 2 selected student filmmakers. Student filmmakers and screenwriters, regardless of major, apply for the MultiCulti grant every year. Students all across campus also petition for a spot on the Executive board, making the term known outside of the RTVF community.
