Description
A group of members who are initiated or inducted together into a particular Greek Organization. The group is identified by the period they crossed and the corresponding Greek letter in the Alphabet that matches the number of the class since the founding line. i.e, if the Founding Class crossed Spring 2012, then the next class to cross would be the Alpha Class, then the Beta Class, and so forth.
Usage
The term is used primarily in the Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic communities. It is used both in informal and formal contexts as well as in spoken word and written text. Which term is used depends from organization to organization.
Example Sentences
- We're line sisters.
- That's the xi class.
