Part of Speech
Noun
Pronunciation
[nuw-fah]
Description
The Northwestern University Women Filmmakers Alliance (NUWFA) is "a student group dedicated to unifying, educating, and promoting female filmmakers at Northwestern University and in the Chicagoland area."
NUWFA can also be used to refer to their annual grant. Every year NUWFA awards $1500 to a student film written, directed, and/or produced by a woman. Additionally, they host an annual speakers panel and a number of workshops and events throughout the academic year.
Usage
This term is used primarily by RTVF undergraduates, staff, and faculty. The term is used outside of RTVF as well, primarily because NUWFA pairs with a number of other student groups for events.
Example Sentence
- "Are you going to the "Writing the Dynamic Female Character" workshop NUWFA's putting on tonight?"
