Description

A show meant to introduce new members of a Greek organization to the rest of the Greek community. A probate is commonly a tradition of groups in MGC and NPHC. Many traditions at a probate are: being masked until the end, stepping, greeting members of the organization, greeting members of other Greek organizations that are present, introduction of bigs, the individuals who guided the members through the intake/pledge process, and introduction of selves.

Usage

The term is used primarily in the Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council communities. It is used both in informal and formal contexts as well as in spoken word and written text.
