An abbreviation of neophyte, a neo refers to a newly joined member of the a Greek organization. Often used by MGC and NPHC organizations. The duration of which a new member is a neo varies from organization to organization, ranging from one quarter to until the next class crosses.

Usage

The term is used primarily in the Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic communities. It is used both in informal and formal contexts as well as in spoken word and written text.
