  2. DM ['dee em]

Description

Dance Marathon, also called DM, is one of the world’s largest student-run philanthropies in the nation [1]. It is a weekend-long event where NU students dance for 30 hours straight to support a beneficiary. DM runs from a Friday evening to Sunday morning.

In 2014, the 40th year of Dance Marathon, the beneficiary was Team Joseph, a non-for-profit organization that seeks to fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a degenerative genetic muscle disease in boys.

Usage

Both forms of this term are used by the majority of Northwestern students on the Evanston campus. It is not restricted to any one particular student group, as many different students participate in DM.

Example Sentence

Even though I have a final exam the next day, I'm still psyched for Dance Marathon!
