Description
Abbreviation for "preference sheet."
Why It's Wild
Pref sheets are forms filled out by students who hope to act, direct, or produce Northwestern theatre productions to indicate their show preference order. After attending callback auditions for certain productions, students go to the third floor of Norris to fill out a pref sheet for StuCo callbacks, or they email the Artistic Director of the Wirtz Center with preferences for their callbacks.[1] This information is used in conferrals to resolve preferences among the performers, directors, producers, and stage managers for each show that quarter. For directors and producers, each undergraduate theatre board interviews students for these positions, and the students then order the boards they would like to work with on their pref sheet. The theatre speech community uses pref sheet, both written and spoken in informal social contexts on campus.
Example Sentence
Will you come to Norris with me? I have to do my pref sheet.
