Description

The Italian Renaissance style building on south campus that houses the Northwestern mathematics department.[1]

History

Lunt was built in 1894, funded by and named for Orrington Lunt (1815-1897), a Northwestern and Evanston founder who made a career as a grain merchant and investor. Lunt Hall served as Northwestern’s library until 1933, when Deering Library was built. From then until 1942, it served as the university’s administration building and housed the Naval Training School for radio operators during World War II. It is the third oldest building on campus.[1]
