Description

RUF is an (occasionally) pronounced acronym of Reformed University Fellowship. RUF at Northwestern states they are "a community seeking to foster a love for God and love for our neighbors. We provide opportunities to learn what the Bible teaches and explore together how to put it into practice in our everyday lives." [1] This is one of multiple Christian fellowships on Northwestern's campus.

Usage

This jargon is predominantly used among Christian groups, although a member outside of the Christian community will be able to use "RUF" in reference to this organization without seeming odd or out of place. Within Christian organizations, over 2/3 hear "RUF" often and only four have never heard of it, indicating that this is a well known word. [2]
