Definition

Plex refers to the Foster-Walker Complex dorm on campus. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this building was used to house on-campus students that were both contact traced or tested positive for COVID-19. Students who tested positive were housed in the east wing of the building, while those who were contact traced were placed in the west wing.[1]

Variations of the Term

Example Sentences

  • "Have you seen Sarah?" "No, she was put in Plex after she got contact traced."
  • I got contact traced so I was Plexxed.

Process

When a student is "put in Plex," they are placed under strict quarantine guidelines. Students are driven from their dorm to the Foster-Walker Complex and moved into a room alone. They are only allowed to leave to go to the bathroom or take a COVID test, and meals are delivered to the room. Other services, including laundry and trash pickup and workout equipment upon request, are also provided.[2]
