Description

Short for Chandler Newberger Community Center [1]. Chandler is a recreation center located close to North Campus, where ten to fifteen Northwestern students work as gymnastics, basketball, and soccer coaches, basketball referees, office staff, and camp counselors. Chandler refers both to the building located at 1028 Central Street and the employer of the Work Study students that work for the recreation center.

Usage

This term, in all its forms, is used by the staff, coaches, and counselors who work at the recreation center, as well as the various Evanston residents who attend programs at the recreation center. Chandler is used more often than its alternative forms.
