Description

Short for Chandler Newberger Community Center [1], Chandler is a recreation center located close to North Campus where ten to fifteen Northwestern students find employment through Northwestern's Work Study program (or the City of Evanston). Chandler refers to both the building located at 1028 Central Street and these students' place of employment. Students find employment as gymnastics, basketball, and soccer coaches, basketball referees, office staff, and camp counselors through Chandler.

Usage

This term, in all its forms, is used by the staff, coaches, and counselors who work at the recreation center, as well as the various Evanston residents who attend programs at the recreation center.

Example Sentence

"The Saturday gymnastics classes don't take place at Chandler. They take place at Robert Crown." "I am the Gymnastics Supervisor for Chandler."
