Description

A shortened form of Church of the Redeemer, a church that meets on Northwestern's campus. They hold worship on Sundays in Swift Hall, a university-owned building. Redeemer is also a ministry that includes Bible studies (see Bstud), discipleship (see Dship), and various other ministries. They incorporate prayer, small groups, and service as core tenets of their purpose on campus.

Usage

This jargon is predominantly used among Christian groups, although a member outside of the Christian community will be able to use "Redeemer" in reference to this organization without seeming odd or out of place. Within Christian organizations, almost everyone has heard "Redeemer" - only nine people have never heard of it, indicating that this is a well known word.
